Dr. Elise Shin,

Dr. Elise Shin is a board-certified psychiatrist who provides a high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered psychiatric care throughout Texas. She believes in creating a trusted therapeutic partnership that supports clarity, resilience, and sustainable mental wellness over time.

Dr. Shin completed her medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she also earned certificates in Medical Ethics and Humanities. She went on to complete her Adult Psychiatry Residency with additional geriatric psychiatry training at Saint Louis University, gaining broad experience treating complex psychiatric conditions across the adult lifespan.

Prior to her start at Shine Psychiatry, Dr. Shin served as a staff psychiatrist at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Houston, TX and Temple, TX, where she provided outpatient psychiatric care, inpatient consultations, and telepsychiatry services. During her tenure at the VA, she also supervised and mentored resident physicians, reflecting her commitment to clinical excellence and thoughtful, evidence-based care.

Dr. Shin’s clinical approach is holistic, collaborative, and highly individualized. She recognizes that mental health is shaped by emotional, cognitive, biological, and lifestyle factors. Therefore, meaningful treatment must address the whole person, not just symptoms. Major life transitions, professional stress, relationship changes, and chronic mental health conditions can all impact well-being, and Dr. Shin partners closely with patients to develop comprehensive treatment plans aligned with their unique needs and long-term goals.

In addition to her medical training, Dr. Shin holds an MBA in Health Organization Management, bringing a thoughtful, patient-focused approach to practice design and care delivery.
